Plus, the Fourth Congressional District, geographically the largest in the state is in the midst of a heated Republican race this primary season. Late last year, the six-county solid waste district voted to default on $12 million dollars in bonds and loans used to purchase and improve NABORS Landfill in 2006. This spring investors demanded repayment--in full. As Jacqueline Froelich reports, in a last-ditch effort, district leaders hope to reopen the facility.
